Florida Highway Patrol was unable to speak with Tiger Woods again on Saturday regarding his car accident that occurred in the early hours Friday morning. Woods hit a fire hydrant and then a tree on a neighbor's property as he left his residence around 2:25 a.m. (et) Friday morning. According to reports, Woods' wife, Elin, broke out a window in his SUV and then removed the No. 1 player in the world from the vehicle.
When police arrived, they found Woods on the ground with cuts on his face and blood in his mouth. He was transported to the hospital and released later Friday.
Florida Highway Patrol attempted to speak with Woods early Friday evening, but were told by Elin Woods, that the 14-time major champion was resting. The troopers agreed to return to the residence on Saturday to speak with Woods.
However, that meeting never happened.
"The Florida Highway Patrol has received information that Tiger Woods and his wife were not available to be interviewed as we had previously scheduled," stated Kim Montes, a sergeant with the FHP's Orlando division, in a statement.
"This announcement came from his Woods' agent. Troopers were asked to return on Sunday. This is still an ongoing crash investigation."
Montes also noted that no further information would be released until after the investigation into the crash was complete. The 911 tapes could be released as early as Sunday, but no specific timeline was given on their release.
Woods is scheduled to host and play in the Chevron World Challenge starting on Thursday, December 3. The tournament benefits the Tiger Woods foundation.
There has been no direct comment from the Woods' camp since a brief statement Friday afternoon. He is scheduled to have a press conference on Tuesday regarding the Chevron World Challenge, which he missed last year while rehabilitating from knee surgery.
